In May 2009, to assist disadvantaged young people lacking education or training/skills to find employment, she and two friends, Trish Wade and Sue Hamilton, started Youth Education Support Inc. (YES ). Julia is its CEO.

Our nineteenth walk starts, for the first time, from Camberwell and heads steadily south to Malvern East. The length of this walk is approximately 6km, and the “terrain” is gently undulating.

It was Dorothy Sutherland, a member of the Hawthorn Historical Society, who came up with the idea of creating an Aboriginal food garden along the Yarra River. The garden began in 1990 and was named after a Woirurrung clan who claim land by the Yarra River.
