Burwood Walks #22: A Walk of Contrasts

31/08/2018 Mark Learmonth

Our twenty-second in this series of walks begins in the centre of Box Hill, a major public transport hub for trains, buses and a tram. We start the walk on the corner of Station and Bank Streets, at the exit of this underpass (Melway 75A F4). The walk is about 7km and can easily be broken into parts.

Burwood Walks #21 – The “Cemetery Trail”

02/06/2018 Mark Learmonth

Our twenty-first walk concentrates on the suburbs of Burwood and Ashwood, with a short diversion into Mount Waverley to take in the view from Essex Heights. We also see one of the less well-known local bushland areas. This walk is gently undulating, and approximately 6km. We start and finish at the Burwood Cemetery, which is one of the older cemeteries in Melbourne. One point to note is that while we walk through several reserves, on the weekday morning I did this walk, all public toilets were locked, but there are some in Burwood Village itself.

Burwood Walks #20: The Trail to Ardrie Park

Our twentieth walk starts in Burwood and heads south to East Malvern station. This walk is gently undulating, and approximately 9km. We walk through many parks, both large and small. Longer than usual, this walk passes three railway stations (Alamein, Darling and East Malvern) so can be undertaken in sections if you prefer.

Our nineteenth walk starts, for the first time, from Camberwell and heads steadily south to Malvern East. The length of this walk is approximately 6km, and the “terrain” is gently undulating.
